Battle of the Buffalo: University of Alabama in Huntsville

When their Brother Paul Salmon passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia, the Theta Pi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega decided to dedicate their service to his memory, and something that he was passionate about.

Chicken Wings.

Every year Theta Pi hosts the Battle of the Buffalo. Each visitor buys a ticket and enjoys two pounds of wings and a drink. The event features also features live music and games. All proceeds are donated to the Clearview Cancer Institute to benefit cancer patients in the Huntsville area.

“My son lives on through this event, because it makes such a difference in the lives of cancer patients right here in Huntsville”  explained Paul’s mother. Battle of the buffalo has made a tangible difference in the lives of patients. An example is microscopes they have purchased that allow more to be done on-site at Clearview. It is no longer necessary to send samples away.

“It’s just so heart warming that something this good has come from my sons death” said Michael Salmon, Paul’s Dad.

This year the event raised $28,925.
