The Omega Pledge Class of the Kappa Beta chapter collaborated to complete their Fall 2017 pledge class paddle. This tradition not only brings us together, but also adds a decorative touch to our chapter's house. The Omegas have since been initiated, adding 27 brothers to the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

We would like to thank Heritage Baptist Church for allowing a group of our walkers and support team to fellowship and stay the night before our practice walk on the Forever Wild Trail Saturday morning. Walk Hard 2018 is off to a great start!

Some of our walkers were very thankful to kick off our Walk Hard raffle this weekend outside of Eagle Eye Outfitters! We are excited for Walk Hard 2018, and are glad we get the opportunity to raise money for those who fought for our rights!

Our walkers were fortunate enough to have members of the Alabama Hiking Trail Society come and speak to them last night. Their presentation was on both proper foot care and proper packing; two very crucial elements to the walk. We can't thank them enough for their time and advice. In 25 days, our brothers will begin their journey towards Panama City Beach.

Huge thank you to Eagle Eye Outfitters in Dothan for allowing our brothers to have a "social media takeover". Our brothers were able to promote Walk Hard and shine a spotlight on Jeep Sullivan's Outdoor Adventures, which helps veterans adjust to civilian life. It was a new and interesting way of bringing attention to Walk Hard 2018, and what it's all about!

Shout out to Brothers Ben Clark (Freshman Forum Delegate) and Douglas Dick (SGA VPCA) who attended the Alabama YMCA Collegiate Legislature Friday. The event was held in Montgomery, and gave our brothers the chance to learn how our state government is run.

Our brothers participated in the 2018 "Color Me KD 5K Run" on Saturday. By signing up and running, our guys helped the Troy Kappa Delta chapter raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America. As our philanthropy, Walk Hard, quickly approaches, we believe it is also important to support other philanthropies on our campus. Whether we are walking or running, we always encourage giving to a good cause.

On Friday, rather than drive to the beach for spring break, our brothers set off on a 128.3 mile journey all on foot. They will arrive in Panama City Beach on Wednesday, where they will reveal how much money our chapter has raised for Jeep Sullivan's Outdoor Adventures, a program that benefits wounded warriors. Keep them in your prayers. Love and Respect! #WalkHard2018

As kids we are always told not to play with our food, but the Kappa Beta chapter didn’t listen! During Greek Week we assembled a “can castle” to compete against other Greek organizations. All the cans were donated to Backpack For Kids, an on campus organization that helps feed children in Pike County.

The chapter’s annual Awards and Alumni Banquet was held on Saturday, April 7, and was a great time to celebrate the chapter’s accomplishments over the past year. Over 175 brothers, pledges, alumni, parents, and guests gathered at the Pike County Cattleman’s Association for the event hosted on Saturday. We were honored to have Brother Jeep Sullivan and his wife, Meg, in attendance, as they spoke about Walk Hard and expressed sincere thanks to the men in the chapter who had participated in this year’s walk who raised over $62,000 for wounded veterans. In addition to the annual awards given to outstanding brothers, the outgoing seniors, chapter 4.0 GPA’s and the previous year’s president were publicly recognized and thanked for their hard work. This is the first year that the chapter has instituted this, and it is one of the many steps that this executive board has taken to improve the chapter. We had good alumni attendance at this event, especially from those brothers who have graduated in the past 3 years. I see this as a positive sign that these young alumni are excited about the chapter and want to give back in any way they can. I was absolutely honored and humbled to receive the first-ever Dr. James Orendorff Alumni of the Year Award, which was named for our later chapter advisor who was instrumental in helping to establish the chapter in its formative years. It was truly impressive to see all that the chapter has accomplished over the course of the past year. Looking back over the course of the past six years, I see this year’s group of men as being some of the most dedicated and leadership-focused brothers that Kappa Beta has ever produced.
