Pi held its first brotherhood outing of the school year on September 23rd. For the outing, brothers traveled to go white water rafting on the Ocoee River, one of the most exciting rafting destinations in the southeast. The trip was a huge success, and we're looking forward to our next brotherhood event! Special thanks to Brother Ashton DeRousse for organizing the event!
This semester, our class of new members have teamed up with a campus ministry called Campus Outreach to put together a leadership study. Throughout this study, our new members have used The Bible and life experiences to study and discuss what it means to be a true leader. They have also gone out and spent time with one another through various social events to bond as a part of this program as well. The Pi Chapter is very excited about the skills our new members have been building in this study, and we know we will have some great leaders arise from our new member class.
On October 25th, the Pi Chapter held a brotherhood event to go play paintball. We had a great turnout, and we had an awesome time getting competitive and spending time with our brothers while taking a little break from schoolwork. Big thanks to our Brotherhood Chairman, Ashton DeRousse, for organizing the event!
Monday, October 29th, 23 members of the Pi Chapter joined together to volunteer at the Knoxville First United Methodist Church's Trunk or Treat event for children in the Knoxville community. Brothers helped with a variety of tasks such as running game booths for children to win candy at, manning the popcorn station, and even making cotton candy for the kids. We had a lot of fun spending time with the kids, and we can't wait to get back out in the community for our next service event!
On Monday, November 5th, several brothers of the Pi Chapter had the chance to go volunteer at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. We helped the hospital out by preparing mailing for a fundraising campaign that benefits the hospital and the children who are hospitalized. ETCH is especially dear to the Pi Chapter because they are also the organization we choose to benefit with our philanthropy events each year. We had a great time helping out and loo forward to a continued partnership with East TN Children's Hospital!

The Pi Chapter is proud to announce the initiation of two of our members, Dakota Cauthen and Parker Trulove, into Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. Tau Beta Pi is the oldest engineering honor society and one of the most prestigious in the nation. To be considered, students have to be in the top 12% of their class and to have displayed exemplary performance in their engineering coursework. We are very excited for Dakota and Parker and proud to have them representing our chapter in this way!
