The Beta Alpha chapter received the Excellence award in Indianapolis at the national awards ceremony for our outstanding philanthropy work. President Isabel says, "[It's] great to see improvements in the chapter, and we can't wait to see where we get in the next year!"

Brother Heitritter was given the Highest GPA Award for all his hard work in the classroom last year. He maintained a 4.0 throughout the year and serves as a great role model and example for the rest of the guys.

The Beta Alpha chapter recently helped with freshman Move In Day at Simpson College. We brought boxes, futons, mini fridges, etc up to their rooms and helped them get settles. This helps us get to know the freshmen and let them know know who we are on campus.

The Beta Alpha chapter kicked off recruitment this year by having a very successful recruitment event. We played dodgeball! we had over 30 people attend the event, got time to talk to each one individually and look forward to seeing many of them in the chapter this year.

We had a great time inviting Potential New Members to mini golf and getting to talk to them about ATO more. We had the opportunity to become closer and know more about these great guys and we hope that choose to join our brotherhood.

The Beta Alpha chapter had their second recruitment event lately with Game Night. We played cards, foosball, and a small pool tournament. We got to see how the potential knew members acted in a competitive scene and how they reacted. We can't wait until walk night to see how many of them want to become S.T.U.D.S.

Brother Waller was chosen from his fellow brothers to be this weeks Brother of the Week. He received this honor, because of his work as the recruitment chair. He put on several great events throughout the week and was successful in adding 11 new members on walk night. Honestly, the chapter couldn't have done this with out him and his leadership.

The Beta Alpha chapter was very happy on the last night of formal recruitment, because we got to add 11 new members to the brotherhood. The Walk Night was a great event where the pledges got to walk to the chapter they choose infant of all their peers. The Beta Alpha chapter see all these guys as good guys, great people, and even better brothers. We see great things in the future for these gentlemen.

This year the Beta Alpha Chapter has started to have family dinners after meetings every week. We feel like this will bring everyone closer together (If that's possibly) and create a family atmosphere. We plan to have a dinner at last once a week and hope this continues for years to come.

New pledge Joe Seymour was recently featured in the college magazine for having a unique skill. Brother Seymour recently received his pilot license and has done several flights/ contest recently. He looks forward to taking fellow brothers and friends up in the ballon and showing them why he enjoys it so much.

Brother Unruh was recently elected to the Internal Fraternity Council at Simpson College. He will have to create bylaws, mange money, and write a new constitution for all fraternities to follow. He is looking forward to serving Simpson campus and greek life in general.

The chapter voted Brother Heitritter as brother of the week recently for all his work around campus. Brother Heitritter has been busy holding a proper weight training technique class for kids around the community thats about to enter high school. He says, "I enjoy being in the weight room and spreading my passion of lifting and also being a role model for people to look up too."

Brother Grossman and his girlfriend recently won the Coed 2v2 Sand Volleyball. They had stiff competition, but was able to persevere and get the win.

Brother Grossman was recently elected Vice President of Intramurals. He has worked for them for all four years now and had enjoyed it every step of the way. He looks forward to growing the program and getting new people to give intramural a try.

Brother Meyer was recently elected freshman class president by his peers at Simpson College. He says that he looks forward to serving and representing his class in Student Government Association or SGA.

Brother Isabel was recently elected Senior class Senator at Simpson College. This is his fourth and final year on Student Government association and he looks forward teaching the new members and passing the torch in a sense. He says that, "It's crazy looking back and remembering everything we've done and accomplished in these four years and i can't wait to see what we do this year and years to come."

Brother Greenwalt and Brother Grossman received 2nd place in the sand volleyball tournament. They suffered an early loss in the tournament but overcame many obstacles and found their way back in the finals. Brother Grossman said, “It sucks not winning it all but as long as we’re having fun and working as a team the there no way that we can’t feel like winners.”

Brother Becker was recently elected Junior class senator at Simpson College. This is his second straight year he's been elected to serve his class in S.G.A. He looks forward to this year. Brother Becker says, "It's nice getting elected again because i feel like there was a lot of stuff that didn't happen last year and I look forward to finishing the job this year and making Simpson a better place."

Brother Gibney and Brother Waller took home first place during the 1st annual Pi Phi bags tournament. The brothers of ATO were very successful in general with Brothers Grossman and Brother Bradley taking second. This was a fun event for all and went to a good cause with all proceeds got to pi phi’s charities.

The Brothers of Beta Alpha recently helped out in the community of Indianola. The brothers helped clean-up and replant flowers and plants in the city gardens. This kind of work really helps the chapters community image.

Brother Unruh and Brother Greenwalt were part of the 6v6 sand volleyball championship. They were very successful during the season going 6-1 and entered the tournament the number one seed. After the game Brother Greenwalt was selected to be the male MVP.

The Beta Alpha chapter recently had their first card Night this year. We like to have something at the house on the weekends for the brothers that don’t have anything going on during the weekends. This week we decided to play cards and we had a lot of fun and shared a lot of laughs. We believe events like this bring each other closer together and make us better brothers in the long run.

Brother Brietenkamp was selected this weeks brother of the week. He has been very respectful and loyal to the other brothers. He even invited another brother to the University of Iowa game when a family member couldn’t attend. Brother Brietenkamp has a bright future and the chapter looks forward to him seeing him grow as a man.

Brother Foubert and Brother Smith recently were selected to attend a human trafficking awareness event. They had to go through a long process to be chosen for this honor. They are both very passionate about the subject and were grateful to learn more. They want to bring back the information they learned and start a club on campus to inform the rest of the student body.

Brother Grossman recently attended the annual phi pi fall party. Brother Grossman represented the Beta Alpha chapter at the event this year. Brother Grossman said, “I really looked forward to representing ATO and growing ATOs name on campus.

Brother Waller was recently nominated for senior homecoming court this year. He is one of five males on campus to have this honor. Later this week we will be have the final results and see if he is this years homecoming king. Brother Grant said, “It was suprise but definitely humbling to know that I was so well liked on campus.”

Brother Becker was recently nominated to represent his junior class on the homecoming court this year. He had to go through two rounds of nomination and was very surprised he got the nod. Brother Becker looks forward to being part of the celebration and festivities during homecoming week.

After the recent class president resigned Brother Duve three his hat in the rink. Brother Duve got word recently that he has won the election. He will now have the honor of being the face and leader on campus for his class.

The Beta Alpha chapter took part in the annual Simpson homecoming relay race. Ten of the brothers had to go through a series of arcade games / mind tricks before reaching the finish line. The Beta Alpha chapter set the bar high but got took second after the last team of the night took the win.

Brother Isabel recently attended a lunch-in for scholarship participants and donators. Cody Isabel with a couple other brothers were eligible for these scholarships this year. Brother Isabel is pictured with several former ATOs that donated this year.

The Beta Alpha chapter recently teamed up with another local fraternity to take part in the Simpson homecoming stomp routine. They had to choreograph a stomp and come up with a chant. They all had a lot of fun and loved the atmosphere.

Terry Lillis '72, retired Senior Vice President and CFO of the Principal Financial Company and incoming Chair of the Simpson College Board of Trustees was awarded one of three Alumni Achievement Awards during Simpson's Homecoming October 14 .

The Beta Alpha chapter played Human foosball at the beginning of the year. The game was very fun and was extremely difficult. The ATO team won the most games in the pool play but lost in the finals in the tournament to take second place.

Simpson Intramurals had a intramural lunch fun event lately. They played box hockey this time. Brother Gibney and Brother Black both took home shirts and were on the podium. Brother Gibney took home first and Brother Black got third place.

Brother Greenwalt was on a homecoming Dodgeball team. His team got to the championship but took 2nd after losting 2 of 3 games.

Brother Groom (guy on the left) was victorious this year at homecoming dodgeball. Brother Groom and a few friends did pretty well and won the Championship game winning 2 of 3 games.

Last week the Beta Alpha chapter and a local sorority introduced the Overton memorial. Brother Everett Overton was the only ATO who attended both the Beta Alpha Golden Anniversary (50 years) in 1935 and the Beta Alpha Centennial (100 years) in 1985. He also was one of a handful of alumni to attend most if not all ATO events at Simpson between his initiation and his death in 2011. He also served as BOT treasurer for many year. He was a very helpful advisor and mentor to the chapter for many year.

Brother Foubert received best novice speaker at the most recent debate tournament. This was his first ever tournament in his life and apparently he’s pretty good at it.

The brother of the Beta Alpha Chapter recently helped a local sorority by serving them for dinner. We dressed up and used proper serving technique. We love helping sororities on campus and expanding the name of ATO.

Brother Greenwalt and Brother Unruh won the annual DMACC v. Simpson sand volleyball game. The schools have a traveling trophy between the schools and Simpson is now the proud owners of that trophy for the next year.

The Beta Alpha chapter recently won the Jam ball tournament with a final score of 89-39. Jam Ball is 3v3 basketball with a nine-foot hoop. The ATO team showed their dominance throughout the tournament with rim rattling dunks and dagger three-pointers.

Brothers Isabel, Greenwalt, and Foubert recently help the Exercise Club by volunteering to dress up and act like Zombies during their annual Zombie Run 5k. The brothers had to walk/run/stumble behind the runners and “chase” them during the 5k.

Brothers Unruh and Greenwalt were winners this year for the coed indoor volleyball championship. They were the best team throughout the season and tournament.

Brother Unruh was selected as Brother of the week. Brother Unruh went out of his way to attend and surprise fellow brother Keller at his first collegiate swim meet. Tyler took off some of the nerves and stress off of brother Keller just by being there for him and definitely helped him do better.
