The Theta Omega Chapter was full of pride, excitement, and enthusiasm when we were awarded our fifth true merit bowl on August 6th. The Chapter looks forward to carry this pride, excitement, and enthusiasm into the rest of year, so that we can win another!

This past summer Brother Britt has interned for the Cincinnati Bengals. Brother Britt has a passion, and therefore sincere interest in athletic training. He can be seen in the first photo, on the right in the black shirt, and the final photo in the white shirt, second from the left. Brother Britt is looking forward to the coming season.

The Theta Omega prides itself in having brothers who work on their skills year around. This past summer Brother Frey, who is a part of the public relations committee, obtained his private pilot license. In the picture you can see Brother Frey and Brother Sellars.

During the summer of 2017, five brothers from the Theta Omega chapter went to Colorado to backpack in the Rocky Mountains. Brothers Altevers, Frey, Sellars, Sweeney, and Wall joined many other brothers from chapters across the nation. During the trip, the brothers climbed Mount Antero, a 14,275 mountain. They have regarded this trip as one of the most challenging physical experiences of their lives.

The Theta Omega Chapter worked the freshmen three day orientation this past weekend. Responsibilities included showing freshmen the campus, informing them about on campus clubs/activities, as well as answering any other questions they had. This was an excellent time to share in the experience of being a nervous freshmen, while meeting potential new brothers!

Over the past year Brother Gagne has put in a lot of work that has been paying off in the last few weeks. Although it has been very hectic, Gagne's is proud to have obtained many valuable jobs in the Northern Kentucky Area. In regards to his major, Gagne has now has a job at Plante Moran as an audit intern. This is a futherance of a summer internship he had. Second, he has been sworn in as the Chief of Staff for the Student Government Association. Furthermore, Gagne has a job on the NKU Phonathon staff. This job will connect him with NKU Alumni, so that the university can diversify its donators. Brother Gagne epitomizes what it means to a Tau, as the Chaplain, a leader, and a hard worker.

Every year NKU puts on Fresh Fusion, so that the incoming class can meet the variety of communities on campus. The way ATO introduces itself is with the traditional car smash! Brother Pelley can be seen in the first picture atop the car.

In preparation for Fall recruitment, Theta Omega's Board of Trustee, Kevin Reynolds (Fall 2006), stopped by to give a recruitment workshop. Kevin had many valuable things to say, but conveyed his message concisely with R.B.I. - Relationship Building, Branding, and Intentionality. The Chapter thoroughly enjoyed this discussion and looks forward to carrying the momentum into rush!

On the 25th of August, Brother Schmitt (first photo) and Brother Elrod (second photo) played in a live band outisde NKU's School of the Arts. Each are majoring in the Department of Music and look forward to having careers in music after college. Brother Schmitt plans on managing a local record label, while Brother Elrod looks forward to teaching music. Both Brothers played wonderfully.

Brother Abel has spent the past summer rising the in the Jimmy Johns food chain. Starting as a sandwich maker, he moved up to Regional Director of Marketing for Jimmy Johns within a month of working. During his time as Regional Director of Marketing he has overseen the advertising operations for ten stores. These advertising operations include promotional events, as well as sampling. Brother Abel looks forward to continuing this job once he graduates!

This past week Brother Noneman was hired by NKU's Human Resources department. Brother Noneman is excited for this job because it coincides with his major. An experience like this will provide insight onto his career after college.

Brother Shanks helped the Red Cross raise $25,000 for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Brother Shanks has a sincere passion for philanthropy dating all the way back to his pledge semester during the fall of 2015. He was in charge of raising $2,000 dollars for Childwatch Children's Advocacy Center. It is obvious that this is a true passion of his, and the chapter is proud to have the privilege of calling him a brother.

Brother Sellars is the Public Relations Chair for the Theta Omega chapter. Throughout the year he is always helping develop PR material It is easy to see the passion he has for the media business. This passion shows through so much, that this past summer he was hired to help edit TV shows for an outdoors production company. Brothers Martin, Altevers, Slyder, Abel, Gagne, and Frey spent this past Saturday (8/26/17) at NKU's popular Service on Saturday. Students across campus help local organizations with whatever they may need. Brothers Martin, Abel, Gagne, and Frey spent their time painting fences at the Alexandria Fair Grounds. You can see the three brothers pictured below.

This past Saturday (9/3/17) Theta Omega put together their annual volleyball competition, Jam in the Sand. The day of the event the weather was questionable, but everything ended up working out. A Theta Omega alumni team won the tournament, but gave their winnings to AOII. Brothers Slyder, Martin, Wilhite, Andre, Barbro, Plageman, Altevers, and Stone were integral organizers of this event. The chapter would like to thank these men, the sponsors, as well as the participants for coming out.

Theta Omega began rush week off with its traditional Glow in the Dark Frisbee night. Brothers and Potential New Members came out around six to mingle and enjoy a grill out. Once the sun went down, four teams competed in ultimate frisbee. It was easy to see the excitement in everyone for rush week to start.

Brother Pelley and Brother Sunderhaus have spent their Fall semester interning for HGC Construction. They are based at the Cincinnati Office putting together estimates, take offs, as well as a variety of other tasks. Brother Pelley and Brother Sunderhaus are showing how leading inside of the class can become leading outside of the classroom as well.

Rush Week is beginning to come to a close, marked with the traditional Invite Night at the Fort Mitchell Country Club. Brothers, active and alumni, as well as potential new members spent the evening discussing the value of Alpha Tau Omega. It was a wonderful night full of stories, as well a discussions of the future. Theta Omega looks forward to welcoming Fall 2017 this Friday.

This past Monday (9/11/17) the Brothers of the Theta Omega Chapter gathered to celebrate what Otis Allen Glazebrook, Erskin Mayo Ross, and Alfred Marshall did on this date 152 years ago. At the same time, we ensure that we remember what happened on this day 16 years ago. Both events remind us how important community is. Whether it is brotherhood or country, there is a bond that connects us all.

The hard work of this past summer, as well as the beginning of the semester, materialized this past Friday. Theta Omega welcomed in 35 new members, thanks to the chapters hard work, and especially to Rush Chair Brother Anderson. A new member class always marks the new semester, and the active chapter cannot wait to get to know these men better.

Brother Altvers and Brother Schmitt spent their Wednesday morning discussing their study abroad experiences with other NKU students. Brother Altevers spent the past spring break in Prague, while Brother Schmitt spent his entire summer in Belgium. Experiences such as these enable people to become more worldly. Both brothers plan on going on another trip abroad soon.

Brother Pelley and Sunderhaus spent their Wednesday working the College Career Fair for HGC Construction. As previously noted on Roadshow, Brother Pelley and Sunderhaus are interning for HGC. While they do a lot of work in office, they also spend time recruiting others.

On the 27th of October, many members of the Theta Omega Chapter attended NKU Career Fair. This career fair provides students with the opportunity to network and find jobs immediately. Some of the brothers who attended are graduating in the fall or spring, and others are looking to find jobs while they continue to finish their degree. The Chapter is proud of them for looking out for their future.

This past Thursday the biggest intramurals rivalry on campus took place, ATO A vs. Pike A. There is a lot of history between the two chapters which date back to Theta Omega's founding. Theta Omega is proud to say that it won last night by one touchdown. It was a tight game the entire time, but Theta Omega's had a late touchdown to seal the win.

This past Saturday Brother Frey and Noneman spent the morning and afternoon at Matthew 25 Ministries. The organization sends all sorts of supplies all over the world to help those in need. We were glad to be a small part of their large operation.

Last Friday, the new members of the Theta Omega Chapter attended Greek 101. Greek 101 is an information session to educate the new members of Greek Organizations on how they operate, as well as what proper conduct is. This information session was given by Theta Omega Alumni, Kevin Reynolds. The Chapter was proud for its new members to attend and even prouder that an alum was giving the talk.

On Saturday Brother Bliven, Brother Gagne, and New Member Federmann volunteered at Parish Kitchen. Before traveling to the location they prepared food for the organization, then helped until the afternoon.

Many brothers traveled to Kenton Elementary to help set up their Fall Festival, as well as work the event. For some, this was an opportunity to go back to their old grade school, but for all, it was another wonderful opportunity to show how the brothers of the Theta Omega Chapter love service.

Every year NKU has a Greek Week which is a week long event directed towards celebrating the Greek community. The celebration was kicked off with the annual 'Airbandz' event. Greek organizations are paired together to lip sync and dance to a series of songs. This year's theme was, 'One Hit Wonders'. Theta Omega had a wonderful time performing and practicing with Phi Sigma Sigma. We look forward to the competition next year.

Brother Shanks and Azbell were nominated to Kappa Delta Daggerman Court at meeting this past Wednesday. These individuals epitomize what it means to be a gentlemen, and our chapter could not be prouder to have them represent us. We can not wait for the winner to be announced at Kappa Delta's Fall Formal.

On Tuesday, Theta Omega participated in the annual Big Pink Volleyball Tournament. This is a philanthropy event to benefit St. Elizabeth’s Women’s Wellness Breast Center. All proceeds go directly to helping women fighting breast cancer. They provides wigs, prosthetics, post mastectomy products, financial assistance, and free transportation for treatment to women with breast cancer. The Chapter's Spring event, Mardi Tau, donates to the same organization, so we were more than happy to come out to this event.

Brothers spent their Saturday morning enjoying Delta Gamma's Annual Philanthropy 5k. The proceeds from the event go to Service for Sight, which is the philanthropy organization of Delta Gamma. It promotes sight preservation and conservation. The Brothers of ATO were glad to play a small part in raising money for this great cause.

Brother Connolly spent his Saturday (9/30/17) at a walk for mental health. Steps Against Stigma is an event put on by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Its goal is to raise money to heighten the awareness of mental illnesses, as well as end the stigma that can sometimes accompany it. Brother Connolly was involved with our chapter's signature event, Mardi Tau, and it does not surprise us to see him continue his philanthropic passions after graduation.

This past Saturday Theta Omega convened for a brotherhood. It was a wonderful opportunity to get together and learn more about each other. We went over bible verses that related to accountability and the reliance aspect of a brotherhood.

The Taus spent their Monday night with the wonderful ladies of the Alpha Omicron Pi Chapter. They spent the evening carving and painting pumpkins. The photo that is pictured last was the winner of an impromptu pumpkin carving contest.

This past weekend many of the brothers of the Theta Omega chapter attended Delta Zeta's Hike for Hearing. This event has a phenomenal impact locally and nationally. Delta Zeta has raised $2 million nationally. ATO is passionate about philanthropy, and it is great to see another Greek organization that shares that enthusiasm.

Brothers Trepel and Batman spent their Monday night competing for Phi Sigma Sigma's Mr. Blue and Gold honor. These men are examples of chivalrous conduct, and that is why they were nominated to compete in such an event. Theta Omega was proud to cheer them on at the event.

Last week Brother Heckmuller and New Member Vaughn emceed one of NKU's biggest events - NLS Trivia Night. Alpha Tau Omega prides itself on being the Nation's Leadership Development Fraternity, and Theta Omega prides itself on being the leaders on NKU's campus. To see an active brother and a new member leading such an important event goes to show we are carrying this message.

Brothers Anderson and Stone spent their Wednesday at a veterans charity walk. This event is apart of an 11-day challenge to promote fitness and raise money for the Disabled American Veterans.

On Wednesday New Member Stamm participated in NKU's Best Buddy Pageant. Brother Stamm's buddy, Patrick, dressed up as Charlie Brown during one round, and our flag in the next round. Brother Altevers and Frey attended the pageant to show support and celebrate New Member Stamm's passion for the Best Buddy's program.

This past weekend Kappa Delta hosted their annual formal. Every year at KD's formal the Daggerman for the next two semesters is announced. Theta Omega was proud to have the 2016-2017 Daggerman, Trevor Turner. And this year we were made proud again by Brother Azbell, who was announced as KD's Daggerman for 2017-2018. In the pictures below you can see Brother Azbell with our Sweetheart, as well as the other brothers who attended KD's formal.

On Monday, Brother Altevers, as well as Brother Boyle (not pictured), tabled to promote the IFC event, The Mask You Live in Screening. The movie, The Mask You Live In, is about challenging and discussing male gender norms. Theta Omega looks forward to this event and the progressive nature of the discussion. Theta Omega would like to welcome and congratulate Dr. Ashish Vaidya to the NKU community. His opening remarks to the university discussed enriching he entrepreneurial environment NKU offers, as well as engaging in the diverse culture the community offers. We look forward to welcoming him in July of next year.

Theta Omega is proud of a member such as Brother Bleser who is so dedicated to philanthropy. Over the past month, he has been collecting money to purchase canned food for The Pantry of Hope, a food pantry located in the Greater Cincinnati area. This past weekend he purchased over 70 canned goods for the pantry.

Theta Omega would like to congratulate it's two members that applied and obtained the Orientation Leader position at NKU. The Orientation Leader position is a highly coveted spot due to the contacts made with freshmen over the summer. It also is a wonderful opportunity to network with NKU administrators.

Some time ago, Brother Schwarber was asked to be an extra in a commercial for a logistics commercial. The acting work he did came to fruition this past weekend when he was featured on national television. Keep an eye out for Brother Schwarber when your watching college football.

The past two weeks the new members of the Theta Omega chapter have been visiting many of the sororities on campus. Singing old songs and new, they enjoy this tradition, but cannot help but meet it with mixed emotions. While their first semester is coming to a close, their future as Taus is on the horizon. We look forward to these members becoming active members.
