The Theta Alpha Chapter at Ball State University took home the “True Merit” cup in Orlando, FL at the 83rd annual ATO Congress. The award is based on chapters “who achieve a level of chapter operation that is worthy of the recognition.” This is the first time the chapter has received the award since 1995.

Brother Nick Osborne of the Theta Alpha Chapter won the Indiana Freemasonry scholarship worth $1,500 dollars. The scholarship, which is separate from his research on "Synthesis of Substituted Pyrazolines as Inhibitors of Bacterial Invasion", is eligible to the children of an Indiana master mason in good standing. The express of financial need, leadership, moral character, community service, and academic achievement distinguish the qualifications for the scholarship.

The Theta Alpha chapter attended the annual “Meet the Greeks” event held by Ball State University. This traditional event allows freshmen to meet all Greek Organizations on campus. The brothers explained the vast opportunities of joining the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and its unmeasurable benefits.

Ball State Theta Alpha paired with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, INC. at University Greens for a fundraising event that collected school supplies and monetary donations for breast cancer awareness.

Ball State Theta Alpha paired with the Student Government Association to help raise money for mental health awareness! Students threw eggs for just $1 or threw three for $2 dollars. The event took place on September 13th at University Greens. The event raised over $900 dollars total in a span of only 3 hours!

The Theta Alpha chapter recently pinned and began pledge class on September 11th. The new "Gamma Theta" pledge class holds 19 truly remarkable men, who will begin their eight week new member training process until initiation.

Brother Chris Gorman interned with the World Baseball Academy in Fort Wayne, IN this past summer. He was a off-site tournament director and ran off-site game locations for tournaments. Brother Gorman worked with at-risk youth, teaching them the fundamentals of baseball.

On Sunday, May 20th, Joshua Borges began his internship as a 50/50 Raffle Brand Ambassador with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky. This is his first step into his new major in sports administration.

The Theta Alpha chapter participated in Island Wars on September 23rd! The obstacle-based philanthropy event created by Alpha Omicron Pi was a huge success, and the Theta Alpha team placed 2nd overall!

Our Health/Safety officer, Parker Wilken gave a presentation to the Theta Alpha chapter about how to be safe while drinking alcohol. The presentation was a great success and the chapter learned a lot. The chapter will use this knowledge to continue to be an outstandingly safe chapter.

Brother Ross Burgan placed 2nd overall in the second year competition for the College of Architecture and Planning out of 90 entries. It is a competition in partner with the Indiana Hard Wood Association. The association puts on this competition in hopes to promote the use of hard wood in architecture projects. It is a 6 week competition in which students are tasked to design a community center for Wabash, Indiana. Students had to complete drawings and a physical model in order to qualify for the competition. He won $750 from his success on the project.

Brothers of Alpha Tau Omega and Alpha Phi sorority paired to host a 6v6 soccer tournament on October 13th in the Field /Sports building. The prices were $10 per person, $60 per team. The event was a huge success for ATΩ as well as for Alpha Phi. There were over 275+ people at the event and over 40 teams registered. The chapters split profits for each organization's desired charity; thus, ATΩ raised $2,087.25 dollars for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Alpha Phi raised $1881 dollars for the Alpha Phi foundation for Women's Heart Health.

Brother Dan Destry helped construct a house for Habitat for Humanity, an organization in Muncie, Indiana that builds and repairs houses using volunteer labor and donations. The partnered families purchase these houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgage loans or innovative financing methods. Their mission is "Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope." Brother Destry and other Construction Management students at Ball State stepped up after there were a lack of volunteers for the project. The house that was constructed is located at 1804 S Jefferson Street in Muncie, Indiana.

The brothers of Alpha Tau Omega and sisters of Pi Beta Phi paired together for the 2018 homecoming and won the best Greek performance for Air Jam! The brothers and sisters practiced for approximately a month and pulled out the win! This is the first time Alpha Tau Omega won Air Jam in a long time.

Trevor Cool went to the NAACP Criminal Justice Summit from 12:00-4:00 p.m on October 25th. He met the Chief of Muncie police as well as Ray Dudley and Zaki Ali (two of the best criminal defense lawyers based in Indianapolis. He said he learned a lot of great things geared towards his major as well as ways to improve the criminal justice system.

Brothers of Alpha Tau Omega had over 25 brothers participate at Camp Adventure in Muncie, IN. Camp Adventure offers a variety of programs, but ATO participated in community service and team-building exercises. The brothers learned various different ways to work as a team to reach a communal goal.

On November 17th, the Ball State ATO chapter initiated 16 new members. The chapter is proud to of initiated such outstanding members who will surely represent the chapter well. This brings the chapter to 57 members, which is the highest it’s been in many years!

Ball State Alpha Tau Omega drove to Indianapolis to watch the Pacers overcome the Miami Heat. There were 25+ brothers in attendance. It was a terrific bonding experience for the chapter and a great way to take a break from a stressful academic semester.
